Fernando Botero

Fernando Botero was born in Medellin, Colombia, in April 19th , 1932. Of young self-taught, becames the most famous painter of Latin America.

His work has gone aboard of three thousand paintings and still more two hundred sculptures, and many drawings and watercolors.
He painted a serie of gigantic creatures , but friendly, decorated with soft edges and round.

"No, i don't draw fat people !"

This is the answer of botero when asked : why do you draw fat people ?

In his paintings there aren't shadows, because they are “dirty colors”,and this lack is a big concern to the idea of beauty. The light comes from interior and plasticity of his pictures and was created trough color. The object is always create sufaces where the color can be expressed itself. The color is fundamental , says Botero , "It gives light to the painting, The image will only achieve perfection when the question of color has been resolved.”
I liked his paintings because they're a little bit funny , and strange , I liked everything about it.
